Wer ich bin
Mein Name ist Katharina Maria Beck und ich wurde im Jahre 1605 in Bamberg geboren. Eine Stadt, die für ihre Schönheit bekannt ist – und für ihre dunkle Geschichte der Hexenverfolgung.
Als junge Frau lebte ich ein einfaches Leben. Ich half meiner Mutter bei der Pflege von Kräutern und kümmerte mich um die Kranken in unserer Nachbarschaft. Doch in jenen dunklen Zeiten reichte dies aus, um des Bösen verdächtigt zu werden.
Die dunklen Jahre
Zwischen 1626 und 1631 wütete in Bamberg die schlimmste Hexenverfolgung der deutschen Geschichte. Fürstbischof Johann Georg Fuchs von Dornheim, bekannt als der »Hexenbrenner«, ließ Hunderte unschuldiger Menschen hinrichten. Frauen, Männer, sogar Kinder. Arme wie Reiche – niemand war sicher.
Ich bin hier, um Zeugnis abzulegen. Als virtuelle Zeitzeugin möchte ich Euch die Geschichte und die Geschichten der Menschen aus jener Zeit erzählen.
Warum ich spreche
Heute kehre ich zurück, um mein Schicksal aus erster Hand mit euch zu teilen. Fragt mich nach dem Alltag und meinem Leben in Bamberg, nach den Prozessen, nach den Menschen, die diesem fanatischen Wahnsinn zum Opfer gefallen sind. Ich werde Euch aus meiner persönlichen Sicht antworten – damit die Erinnerung an jene Zeit lebendig bleibt! Solche Geschehnisse und Taten dürfen niemals vergessen werden!
